S6 Head Team Update

Hi, my name is Jenna Hosie, and I’m a Head Team member and Vice Captain of the Kelso Hockey Team.  This Week’s Highlights:

  • Modern Studies Trip to London: Ms. James and Mr. McColm’s Higher Modern Studies class visited London on Wednesday and stayed overnight until Thursday. They had a fantastic experience, including a visit to 10 Downing Street and a guided tour of Parliament, with access to both the House of Lords and the House of Commons. It was a highly successful trip!
  • Blood Brothers Theatre Trip: On Thursday, our S5 and S6 students went to the Edinburgh Playhouse to see Blood Brothers. After the show, they stopped at Fort Kinnaird for lunch.
  • House Captain Representatives: We have now selected House Captain representatives for each year group.
  • UCAS University Fair: On Tuesday, UCAS hosted a University Fair for S5 and S6 students. It was a great opportunity for them to explore different university options and learn more about what each has to offer—a very successful morning overall!

Colour Run

The Head Team have organised a colour run in the racecourse car park field for any pupils in S1 to S6 on Friday 4th October from 1.45 to 2.45pm.

This will cost £2 per pupil who wants to take part. This can be paid on ParentPay now.

Please wear old clothes with preferably a white t-shirt.

KHS Parent Council

The next meeting will be held in person at KHS next Wednesday (2nd October) at 7.00pm. The focus will be life at KHS, specifically positive behaviour and uniform.  We look forward to seeing you there!

Hockey Fundraiser

The KHS Hockey teams will hold a Family Bingo Night at Kelso Rugby Club this Friday, 27 September, from 7pm to 9pm.

The fun event is open to families of our pupils with brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles, grannies and grandads all welcome! Entry is £2 and games will cost £10 (books of six cards) or £5 (books of three) – cash only – with six games followed by a special ‘Golden Game’ at the finish with a great variety of prizes up for grabs. There will also be a raffle.

Thank you to local businesses for their donations, to all parents who have already handed in raffle prizes, and to Kelso RFC for supporting our school hockey fundraiser – especially Alexa Richardson and Steph Dalgleish. Now, all we need are students and families to have a fun night which will help to support school hockey through 2024-25.

Please let us know if you have a prize donated by a local firm, as these are hugely appreciated and we like to give credit to all those who support us. Raffle prizes are welcome on the night too.

See y’all for ‘eyes down’, ‘clickety-click’, ‘legs 11’, ‘two little ducks’, and ‘droopy drawers’ at 7pm, Friday!

Community Wellness Fayre

We are looking forward to welcoming Kelso Community to KHS tomorrow for the above event.  A reminder that the school will be open from 10am – 2pm.  Copy of the programme is attached.
