Weekly Update 22/11/2019

Graphic Communication Project

Our Graphic Communication students have again been given the chance to work on a live project for Scotmas, a Kelso-based company. On Thursday they presented their proposals to a three person panel who were very impressed with the range of ideas, the quality of work, and the standard of presentations. The National 5 students had to create a water bottle and packaging, while the Higher students had to create the designs for an informational brochure. The students have worked extremely hard and have produced some excellent work as was recognised by John Cove from Scotmas, who is now hoping to further develop some of their ideas to produce commercially. This partnership is incredibly valuable for the school as it offers our students a chance to work with local employers on a real-life project and gives them an insight in to the world of work.
You will be able to see some of the students’ work at the annual CDT exhibition after the Easter break.
We are very grateful to Scotmas for their continued support of Kelso High School.

Opportunity for S3 Pupils

We have secured 12 spaces to attend Kelso Racecourse on Monday 27th January, looking at a variety of careers available in the racing industry, including hospitality, equine, marketing and tourism and to raise awareness of employability skills. If your child is interested, please ask them to speak to Miss Roden by the end of November.

Senior Study Books

Do you have redundant study books? Leckie Leckie, Hodder Gibson, Course notes, past papers and alike. Would you be willing to donate them to the KHS Parent Council? We would then sell the books at a reduced price at the coming parent evenings. Not only does this benefit the Parent Council but those of you who are looking for your next study books.
Please hand into the School Office as soon as possible.
The Parent Council have awarded over £4300 to various school projects over the last year and all school pupils have the opportunity to benefit from these funds.
