End of Session 2024/25

On behalf of all at Kelso High School, we would like to thank our families and community for their continued support as our 2024/25 session comes to an end on Wednesday 25th June 2025.  We wish all our young people a relaxing and enjoyable summer. We look forward to our 2025/26 session commencing on Wednesday 20th August 2025.

S6 Residential:  A Fantastic Start to the Year

Our new S6 learners have had an amazing time at their residential this week, taking part in a packed programme of activities designed to develop teamwork, leadership, and confidence. Mrs Wilson and I were delighted to join them on their final evening and hear first-hand about the fun they’d had and the memories they’ve made. It’s been a fantastic way to mark the start of their S6 journey and we are proud of the way they represented themselves and Kelso High School throughout the experience.

Staffing

As this term comes to a close, we say a fond farewell to our Resilience Practitioner, Lisa McDevitt, who is moving on, due to the Quarriers Service coming to an end within SBC. During her time with us, Lisa has provided invaluable support to a significant number of our young people, helping them to develop their confidence, emotional wellbeing and resilience. Her dedication, compassion, and commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others have been deeply appreciated by our young people and their families.  On behalf of everyone at Kelso High School, we would like to wish Lisa every success in the future.

Summer Concert

A huge KHS thank you to all learners and staff who took part in last week’s Summer Concert – the talent on show was truly outstanding. Thank you also to our amazing Music Department staff – Mr Davis, Miss Riley, Mr Borthwick and Mrs Borthwick – for helping our learners perform at their best and for allowing them the opportunity to shine. Our grateful thanks also to families, friends and the wider KHS community for their fantastic support. This concert was a particularly special one as it was Mr Martin’s final KHS Summer Concert performance with the Staff Band before his retirement – thank you to Mr Martin for his involvement over the years and best wishes for a long and happy retirement! Whilst – unfortunately – we didn’t manage to capture photos of every single act, we hope that you enjoy these photos from what was a truly brilliant evening. Congratulations and thank you once again to all involved!  More photos from the event can be found on our KHS Facebook page.

Well Done!

Huge congratulations to our amazing KHS staff!  Recognised by Scottish Borders Council for a plethora of professional learning awards — what a team! Well done to Mrs Weatherston, Miss Roden, Mrs Everett, Mrs McIntosh and Mr Connell who went to SBC HQ to pick up their awards, as well as Mrs Fortune, Mrs Cairns, Mrs Lothian and Mrs Wilson who were unable to attend.

KHS Student Drama 202 – Matilda Jr The Musical

We are a VERY proud school!  This week has seen three incredible performances of Matilda Jr. the Musical – our first whole-school KHS production since 2017 -and what a return it was! The energy, talent and enthusiasm of every single cast member was truly inspiring. The support they showed each other both on and off stage truly embodied our KHS values of: Participation, Respect, Determination, Included and Excellence and we are incredibly proud of each and every one of them. What made this production even more special was that it was wholly student-led! Huge congratulations to Allister Morris (Director & Choreographer), Willow Elliot (Choreographer), Niamh Bennett (Set & Prop Design – Bruce’s cake was unforgettable!), and Charlie Butterfield, lighting maestro extraordinaire! Special thanks must also go to Miss Riley’s S3 Drama class for their creativity in marketing, characterisation and lighting ideas. Thank you to Mr Borthwick for fundraising and managing sound and mics, and to staff – Mrs Poole, Miss Boufi, Mrs Fortune and Mr Davis – and parents who supported backstage. We are also extremely grateful to all families and friends in our wider KHS community who turned out at each performance to show their support and cheer on our stars. And finally, a heartfelt thank you to Miss Riley in her first role as Musical Director – your support brought out the very best in our young people and allowed their talents to shine!   We are SO proud of everyone involved! Photos from the event can be found on our KHS Facebook page.
