P7 Visits
This week, we were delighted to welcome our new S1 learners for their three-day transition visit. Throughout their time with us, the pupils navigated the school, followed their timetabled classes, met key members of our teaching staff and experienced break and lunchtimes in the canteen. The enthusiasm, confidence, and positive attitude they brought with them were fantastic to see and we are incredibly proud of how well they engaged with the experience. We look forward to welcoming them back in August as they begin their S1 journey with us.
Matilda the Musical
Our amazing KHS Drama students have been working incredibly hard, and the stage is now set for our upcoming production of Matilda Jr – The Musical! Please join us for evenings of music, laughter and outstanding entertainment – this is student talent at it’s very best! With catchy songs, brilliant acting and a whole lot of heart, this is the perfect way to spend a Summers evening at the end of term and support our young performers. We can’t wait! Please see below poster for details of all three performances.
Summer Music Concert
We were delighted to welcome families, friends, and members of our school community to our Summer Music Concert last night. The evening was a wonderful celebration of the musical talents of our young people and staff, featuring performances from a variety of pupil and staff bands, instrumental groups and a solo performance accompanied by a young person on the piano. The concert showcased a wide range of musical styles and highlighted the dedication, enthusiasm, and hard work of all the pupils involved. It was fantastic to see so many of our young musicians performing with such confidence and passion. A huge thank you to everyone who came along to support the event and to our dedicated music staff for their commitment in preparing the performers. It was also great fun to see so many talented staff members from across the school, not just from the Music Department, taking part! We are incredibly proud of everyone who took part and look forward to sharing more musical events with you in the new school year.
S6 Head Team Applicants for Session 2025-26
Well done to all of our S6 pupils who took the brave step of applying to be part of our S6 Head Team for the 2025-26 session. I had the privilege of leading the interview panel and it was inspiring to hear each applicant speak so passionately about giving back to the school community and their pride in being part of our school. The next stage of the process involves the successful candidates creating a short video (maximum of 3 minutes), which will be shared with the whole school community next week. This will be followed by a vote to help us select our Head Team for the coming year. We are incredibly proud of all the applicants for their commitment, leadership, and ambition and we look forward to involving the whole school in this exciting process.

We are fortunate to have a very active Parent Council at Kelso High School, representing the voice of parents and supporting the work of the school. Our Chair and Vice Chair recently attended our P7 Parent Engagement Evening to share the purpose of the Parent Council and to encourage parents to get involved by attending a meeting. As we reflect on this session and begin planning for the next, we would greatly appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to complete a short survey.
S6 Prom
Oh what a night! Huge thanks to Rachel Scott – Chief Organiser Extraordinaire – and her absolutely fantastic Prom Committee for organising Thursday evening’s S6 Prom at Ednam House. It really was the most amazing evening from start to finish! Our grateful thanks to Ednam House for hosting and for the delicious meal. Please enjoy some photos from the event. More photos can be found on our KHS Facebook page
Day 4 of Modern Languages French Trip
Today took us to Vincennes on the outskirts of Paris, a typical French town with a château where we had an opportunity to sample French specialities. The students also competed for top prizes in our Scavenger Hunt! Quests included taking a group selfie in front of the castle and asking locals in French what time the castle closed! In the afternoon, we travelled to Neuilly-sur-Marne, to Collège Honoré de Balzac where students met their French counterparts! This included sports activities, ice breaker activities, a visit of the school and a Pizza party allowing the students to mingle and use their English and French with each other.
Day 5 & 6 of Modern Languages French Trip
Day 5 and 6 of the Paris trip. Today was truly magical . We spent the day at Disneyland Paris, exploring both parks and enjoying the rides and food. With stars in our eyes, it is now time to say ‘au revoir’
