P7 Visits: Tuesday 10th June to Thursday 12th June

We are very much looking forward to welcoming our new S1 pupils to Kelso High School on Tuesday 10th June. Over the three-day visits, P7 pupils will attend their timetabled classes and meet key teaching and support staff.

P7 Parent Information Event – Thursday 12th June

We would like to invite all P7 parents and carers to our Information Evening on Thursday 12th at 6:30pm. Following your young person’s three-day visit to the High School, this event is a great opportunity to:

  • Meet the relevant Pastoral Principal Teacher
  • Hear from our Parent Council
  • Learn about the extra-curricular activities available in S1

There will also be a chance to tour the school.  You are also warmly invited to drop into our Summer Concert, where you can enjoy performances from some of our amazing young musicians.

Kelso High School Summer Concert – Thursday 12th June

Join us next Thursday evening at 7:30pm in the Assembly Hall for our Summer Concert – a relaxed and informal celebration of music to round off the year! Enjoy performances from a variety of bands, groups, and solo performers. The concert will last approximately one hour and audience members are welcome to drop in and out throughout the evening. No tickets or charge, donations welcome but please just come along and enjoy the music! We look forward to seeing you there.

Parent Council

Due to the many commitments staff and parents have at this time of year, we have agreed to postpone our final Parent Council meeting for this session. Our Parent Council Chairs will instead be attending the P7 Parent Information Evening on Thursday 12th June, where they will share more about their role and warmly welcome any new members. As we reflect on this session and begin planning for the next, we would greatly appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to complete a short survey.

S6 Leavers Evening

On Tuesday evening we held our S6 Leavers’ Evening, this is a long-standing and much-loved tradition at Kelso High School. It was a heartwarming celebration filled with pride, laughter, and a touch of nostalgia as we marked the end of an important chapter for our young people and their families. The evening recognised the achievements, growth, and contributions of the Class of 2025, who leave us as confident young adults, ready for their next steps. We also expressed thanks to our young people, supportive families and dedicated S6 Head Team. Thank you also to our Pastoral Principal Teachers and Mrs Cameron-Lyle for her very thoughtful message to our leavers. As always, the evening served as a reminder that while our leavers may be moving on, they will always remain part of the Kelso High community. More photos of this event are located within our Facebook page.

KHS Green Power Car Success

Huge congratulations to our four S4 learners who took part in the Scottish Schools Championship at Springwood Park on Wednesday, racing our KHS Green Power Car against teams from George Watson’s College, Bannerman, Eyemouth, Berwickshire and Earlston!
After months of hard work with our amazing technician Mr Bill Pratt, the team was all hands-on deck throughout the day—changing tyres and batteries, tightening brake discs and making last-minute tweaks to get the car race-ready. Well done and thank you to Kaden Hernandez, Malachy O’Brien, Roman Pretswell and Callum Robson for their dedication and teamwork!
Lap times improved throughout the day thanks to live data tracking, with the fastest laps coming in at:

🏁 Callum – 58.40
🏁 Malachy – 57.63
🏁 Roman – 55.85
🏁 Kaden – 55.48

Both Mr Pratt and CDT teacher Mrs Claire Poole were very impressed with how well our team worked together—and their efforts paid off as they brought home the Team Award!
Well done to all involved. We are all really proud of how Malachy, Callum, Kaden and Roman represented KHS, demonstrating our school values, brilliant teamwork, focus and enthusiasm. Our grateful thanks to Mr Pratt, Mrs Poole and Mr Martin for their on-going support!

Update from our KHS French Trip

Our KHS French trip have been having the most amazing time in Paris. Some free time in Montmartre gave learners the chance to experience French food, haggle in shops using their language skills and visit the beautiful Basilica of the Sacred-Heart.  On the same day their afternoon adventures took them to the banks of the Seine for a boat cruise which allowed them to see the best sights of Paris including the Eiffel Tower. They then walked to a restaurant for dinner with a stop on the Champs-Elysées  which gave them the opportunity to take photos of the Arc de Triomphe.

Matilda the Musical

Our amazing KHS Drama students have been working incredibly hard, and the stage is now set for our upcoming production of Matilda Jr – The Musical! Please join us for evenings of music, laughter and outstanding entertainment – this is student talent at it’s very best! With catchy songs, brilliant acting and a whole lot of heart, this is the perfect way to spend a Summers evening at the end of term and support our young performers.

We can’t wait! Please see below poster for details of all three performances.

S6 Open Days for 2025

As part of our S6 Induction, we would like to share the following information about upcoming Open Days for Higher Education. We would encourage young people considering University to attend Open Days to help them make an informed decision about their options following school. Young people should make arrangements for attending open days themselves. If a young person wishes to attend an Open Day which normally would take place on a school day, please get in contact with our school office so that we are able to code the absence appropriately.
