Congratulations to Jack

Congratulations to Jack Utterson in S6 who represented Scotland in Sunday’s U18s international against Wales at Kingston Park.

Jack put in another great performance, carrying the ball well in attack and making some dominant tackles in defence. Best of luck for the rest of your games, Jack, from all at KHS! #pridekhs

Cross Country at KHS

March sees the Cross Country Season kick in with the National Championships and Borders Schools taking place in quick succession. A good number of runners attended the National Championships at Hopetoun House, five of them in S1! The course provides challenging, hilly terrain, but all KHS runners coped superbly well in large fields, in some cases with over 200 runners in an age group!

Well done to S1 girls Eva Burton, Izzy Mason and Zara Milburn and S1 boys, Rory Fleming and Archie Scott on their first time representing KHS at the event. All of them ran incredibly well with 227 athletes in the girls race and 201 in the boys. Running in such large race requires huge skill and determination!

Evie Leonard (S2) came 16th in the U15 Girls race in a field of over 100 athletes. Evie shows a lot of commitment to her training and this result is very well deserved. In the U15 race, Harry Fleming and Leo Tait (both S3) put in very good runs. Both boys have had injuries this year so having them back out running is great to see. In the U17 boys race, Oliver Hastie was 13th from 152 runners. This is a superb achievement and testament to the training Oliver puts in around Kelso and also with Gala Harriers. Finally, well done to Matty Fleming (S5) who stepped up to U20 boys and put in a big shift in a narrower field and against some much older lads.

Finally, huge thanks go to Matthew Fleming and all the parents/carers who support the Athletes for these events as without you, it simply would not happen. The runners and our school community are incredibly lucky to have you! Many thanks to Mr Brown for the report and for the photos! #pridekhs

More Cross Country Success

We are a very proud school! A huge well done to our KHS representatives at last Thursday’s Border Schools Cross Country Championships.

Each of our runners performed brilliantly, with several top 5 and top 10 finishes! Our school values were again on show in abundance.

Congratulations to medallists Evie Leonard (1st place – S3 Girls) and Oliver Hastie (2nd place – S4-S6 Boys Open). A special mention to Archie Scott and Matty Fleming who both finished 4th in their respective races.

Our thanks to Matthew Fleming and our dedicated team of parent helpers for their support on the day. Thanks also to Neil Renton for the photos and to Chris Fraser of Live Borders for supporting our young people to achieve of their very best.  Photos from the event can be found on our KHS Facebook page.  #pridekhs

Calling all S2 and S3 Spanish Learners

A fantastic opportunity for you all…

Neurodiversity Celebration Week at KHS

What a fantastic week at KHS with our Celebration of Neurodiversity Week. A huge thank you to everyone who has supported the Neurodivergent Community this week and for your ongoing support.

Special thanks to: our Neurodiversity Ambassadors for completing daily assemblies; to all who contributed to the many presentation boards around KHS; to all who supported ‘Wear a Hat Wednesday’; and to Ms Dyer and our SfL Department for their amazing organisation of this week’s many events. Please have a look at our KHS Facebook page over the next few days for some photos. #pridekhs

S2 in CDT

S2 learners in CDT have been really busy lately creating different bridge structures. Cody, Jake and Lewis have been making a suspension bridge; Jade has been working on a Truss bridge; Steven’s team have been working on Cantilever bridge. Mrs Poole has been impressed with Aiden, Niall and Jack who have persevered with their Cantilever design. Learners have worked really hard re-designing each part of their final designs. Working on models has allowed learners to experiment with techniques and re-design ideas as they go. It was great to see the end results. Well-done to everyone involved and a huge thank-you to Mrs Poole for the photos. #pridekhs
