S6 Uniform

Our current S5/new S6 pupils have been voting for their chosen colour of S6 uniform for next session 2021/22 which will be light pink.

We are now taking orders for the jumpers and cardigans but unlike previous years, we will be doing this electronically. The link below will take you to the order form where you must fill out the details required.

Order form link: https://forms.office.com/r/LkKkfcdYgA

Payment must be made as soon as possible once you have placed your order. This year you can pay for the S6 uniform by ParentPay (this has been assigned to your account to allow you to do this) or by cash/cheque to the school office.

Vaccination Forms

A reminder for all parents who received vaccination consent forms for their young person to please complete and return this to the school office as soon as possible.

Parental Survey

Dear Parent

The link below will direct you to a survey that aims to capture your experience and views on your child’s home learning this year as well as your thoughts on mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people. The survey will only take minutes to complete and will be live until the 17th of May. The topics covered in the survey have been agreed with the Parent Council Chair’s Forum.

Parent Council Chairs’ Forum: Update to SBC Attendance Policy.

This is a call for representatives to play a part in the update to the SBC attendance policy.

The policy has not been reviewed since 2011 and needs to be updated to reflect recent national developments as well as to reflect more recent understanding of ways of dealing with attendance difficulties.

The policy is important because it highlights the responsibilities of all parties in securing good school attendance.  The guidance from Scottish Government emphasises the importance of a positive, inclusive ethos in schools to support well-being, and consequently to encourage good attendance.  We need to update our SBC policy to properly reflect this, and to connect it to other developments such as the Nurturing approaches.

Process:

A Core Working Group will meet to take this forward.  The group will have representation from a number of key stakeholders who will, in turn, liaise with their own colleagues so as to feed a full range of perspectives into the process.

In addition to involving schools, both primary and secondary, as well as other stakeholders, we are seeking one or two people to be the parents’ representatives on the core group.  This should help keep the group to an effective size.

Expectations of participants:

Participants will need to able to attend the meetings of the Core Working Group and liaise with colleagues as necessary.  There will be some reading and writing activities as well, but these will be negotiated and kept to essential matters only.

It is expected that the Working Group will have three or four plenary meetings: with a view to completing the task by the end of this academic year (i.e. 30th June).

Please reply to PeopleInfoMgt@scotborders.gov.uk if you are interested in participating.
