Easter Holiday

We wish all pupils and staff a lovely break over Easter, the new term begins on Monday 15th April 2019.  Please note school will also be closed on Friday 19th April 2019 for Good Friday.

National Examinations & Study Leave 2019

Pupils have been issued with a letter regarding study leave for the upcoming National Examinations and an individual exam timetable today.  The letter has also been emailed home to parents.  There is a copy attached below as well.


We are delighted to announce that Kelso High School have come 3rd place for the Micro-Tyco February 2019 challenge! A MASSIVE well done to you all. This is an incredible achievement - the youngsters should be really proud of the impact that their funds will have. 

Secondary School Rankings:

1st Place: Alperton Community School £3851.17

2nd Place: International School of Geneva £3220.00

3rd Place: Kelso High School £1951.37

Parent Council 3 Ball Lottery - March Draw

This month, the numbers drawn were 4, 5 and 12.  Unfortunately there were no matches so the prize fund of approximately £1000 rolls over to next month.  The prize fund must be won on the next draw so make sure you are involved.  Forms available below.  Good Luck!!

Parent Council Bids

The Parent Council received 4 requests for funding and these were discussed at the meeting earlier this week:

* S3 Personal Development Award – Trip to Coldingham Bay to complete a litter pick. This bid was successful and they were awarded £60.00 to go toward minibus / fuel costs.

* KHS Curling Team – Costs incurred during recent Scottish Schools Curling Competition.  This bid was successful and they were awarded £250.00 to go towards accommodation, travel and meals etc.

* KHS Exhibition of Work – Prizes for pupils to celebrate exceptional work, determination and who have made a positive contribution to the school.  Work from Craft, Business, Enterprise and Media will be showcased at this event on Tuesday 16th April.  This bid was successful and they were awarded £240.00 to purchase vouchers which will be awarded to deserving pupils.

* Leavers Day Lunch – The S6 pupils are organising a lunch and fun activities on their last day at KHS.  This bid was successful and they were awarded £150.00 to go toward food / cost of activities.  This amount will be matched by the school.

Exhibition of Work 16/04/19

The faculty of Craft, Business and Enterprise, together with Media Studies are holding an exhibition of pupil work on Tuesday 16th April from 6pm until 7.30pm.  The exhibition will take place on the ground floor of the school in Mrs Fisher’s and Mr Meldrum’s room.  There will be an opportunity to see a selection of work from S1 - S6 covering Design & Manufacture, Graphic Communication, Practical Electronics, Business Management, S1 Enterprise and Media.  There will be a short prizegiving at 6.30pm in the Assembly Hall. Refreshments will be provided by the Parent Council.

The exhibition is open to all.  Please come along and find out more about what is happening in these subjects and to see some of the work that pupils have been working on this past year.  Admission is free.  Poster attached below.

S3 Battlefields Experience 2019

The final instalment for the above trip is now due.  Please make payments via ParentPay or to the School Office.  Cheques should be made payable to Kelso High School.

Cheviot Youth

A Great Holiday Programme – Extreme Karting, Primal Bushcraft and Survival and Film Making are just some of the great days planned for Cheviot Youth’s Easter Holiday Programme which includes free breakfast, free lunch and free McDonalds.  Booking forms for S1 – S5 years available now by emailing Ian at [email protected].  For further information please ring/text Ian on 07958 277766.  

Cheviot Youth is offering Ready for Youth Work a practical training course for youth workers and volunteers to ensure that they can create a safe space for young people; plan, deliver and evaluate fun youth work sessions and celebrate and recognise their achievements. This training is free. Accreditation available at SQCF level 3. Duration: 2 days. Monday 1st & Tuesday 2nd April 2019, 9.45am - 4.30pm, The Planet, Kelso. To book a place please email Ian at [email protected]
