Love & Bananas – An elephant story

On Wednesday 27th ‘Love & Bananas – An Elephant story’ came to Kelso High School. All of S3 attended a screening of the film and had the opportunity to find out more about the plight of the Asian Elephant throughout the day, thanks to a very informative stall which was set up by Rebecca Boyd and some of our pupils who are Save the Asian Elephant ambassadors: Molly Boyd Lyon, Kitty Irving & Brooke Rochester. As a follow up from this event S3’s will be reflecting on the film in class and creating a piece to raise awareness of the issues covered in the film.

We were thrilled by the support shown from the community at the evening screening of the film which was very well attended.

At both screenings we were honoured to show a personal message from Lek Chailert, founder of the Save the Elephant foundation and inspiration for the film, where we were reminded that we can give a voice to these amazing animals. If you would like to find out more about the film then check out www.loveandbananas.com

There will be guest speakers to inform parents, carers and young people of the routes available within the apprenticeship family and how these link in with the Scottish Qualification Frameworks.  The event will take place at Jobcentre Plus, New Reiver House, Galashiels, TD1 1TD on Wednesday 6th March from 5pm-7pm.
